Shadows of Love (original oil painting 20x10 in)
Shadows of Love is a painting in which the true focal point is not the flowers, but their shadows. I once saved these purple statice flowers from a bouquet gifted to me by my husband. I always take great care of every bouquet I receive, changing the water often and removing any fading blooms, but these little flowers seemed determined to stay colorful even after drying up.
One early evening, they stood in their glass vase with no water, caught in a backlight streaming through the window. The dramatic shadows completely took center stage, captivating me so deeply that I had to paint them. Notice how the cast shadows naturally form shapes resembling hearts, and how the delicate lines of the stems create a connection—like invisible strings—guiding your eyes upward to the vase and the actual flowers.
More than a careful study of light and shadow, this painting is a quiet homage to love and its mysterious ways.
This painting measures 20x10 inches with a depth of 1.5". The sides were painted and it comes with a wire so you can hang it right away! Frame NOT included. This painting does not need a frame.
